ASSEJA has opted for a holistic approach to development with the primary focus on the promotion and the rights and welfare of children and youths. The actions implemented in favour of the children and youths cannot be sustainable if the parents who are primarily responsible for these children’s welfare find it difficult to make money from their income generating activities (IGAs). It is for this reason that ASSEJA decided to involve the support for income generating activities in its action plan.
The support programme in favour of income-generating activities initiated by ASSEJA intervenes at the request of beneficiaries (CIGs, CIG Unions, EIGs, etc...). The actions include:
• Structuring of common initiative groups (ICG), in the economic interest grouping (EIG), Unions in GICs, etc...
• Assisting the groups in designing the micro projects
• Assisting the groups in developing their business plans
• Presentation and helping the group to submit their project idea at the level of micro finance institutions
• providing training in line with loan management
• Monitoring the performance of the micro project
